I wanted a high quality yoga mat that was long in length because I am a tall person. I thought I had picked the perfect mat when I ordered this one. I didn’t have a problem with the length (although it smelled that new plastic stench) but I did have a problem with the weight. This mat is HEAVY! I knew it would be HEAVY when I purchased it and being a person in somewhat good shape I didn’t think I would mind it but I didn’t realize that it would be cumbersome. The last straw that made me want to return it was when I was in a yoga class; sweating and I began to slip on the mat. If I am going to spend this amount of money on a yoga mat I don’t want any problems. To Amazon’s credit I was able to return it and they paid for postage. If I would have had to pay for the return postage myself it would have cost a lot because of how HEAVY it is but I would have paid it anyway (that should tell you how much I didn’t like it). I am now looking for a long mat but lighter and toxic free. I want something that will be biodegradable. The problem now is there are so many mats available (too many choices can be just as frustrating as too few).

This mat sure as has a lot of hype! I’ve been a yoga student for over 7 yrs, but have recently switched to Pilates with a much more dedicated outlook/workout for the past 2, partly due to a recent (2yrs ago) diagnosed lower back issue. This mat appears to be great for yoga, but not nearly thick enough for Pilates. I got this mat hoping there was a happy medium, since I do on occasion still practice yoga at home and in the studio (minus any and all back extensions) So…..planted feet, rib open, extending yogi’s you’ll love it! Closed rib, hundred, half-roll backers beware!!

It’s like they claim. Nice n soft yet firm enough to keep your hips, elbows etc. from hurting against the floor. Nice product and it looks of quality as well.

I just feel sorry for those people who are using those thin foam mats from Target. It’s worth the money, people.

I’ve searched for the perfect mat for a while now. It didn’t have to be cute or pink I just wanted a mat that lasted longer than 6 months. The mats I was buying would begin to flake and by the end of class would end on my skin. Embarassing!!! It doesn’t make any sense for me to buy enviromentally friendly mats anymore because I now have 6 unusable mats in my garage.
A little research brought me to the Manduka Black mat. I have high expectations for this mat. I don’t have any complaints really. I think I need to break it in a little more. Too soon to tell whether or not I’ll shred this one too. Only time will tell….
